That Time I... (Intaglio Prints)

This body of work explores my interest in the development of mythology and the visual telling of stories. Guided by these studies, this series takes personal childhood experiences and transforms them through exaggeration into epic scenes in which they too, become mythological.

My interest in art stems from a fascination with animated films and comic books. Over the course of my college studies, this intrigue with using drawings to tell stories grew into a love for digital painting and traditional printmaking. I particularly enjoy working with line, and by extension, making intaglio and linoleum prints. Although time-intensive, I find the technical processes involved in etching and relief printing—among other methods that involve detailed line drawing — to be meditative and enjoyable.
